Dying in the Digital Age

Technology is more and more a part of death and how we grieve and mourn our loved ones has changed significantly with the everyday use of social network sites, facebook and symbolic representations such as emojis. This shift in technology brings many unforeseen consequences as well as new opportunities and rituals for bereaved family and friends. Of particular importance is how previously disenfranchised mourners such as friends and peers can now find a 'space' to express their loss and grieve appropriately.
